Michael Jackson’s Appreciation of the African Continent

Michael talks about his appreciation of the African continent and its people which started on his first tour there with the Jackson 5 in 1974. “It was a visit to Senegal that made us realize how fortunate we were and how our African heritage had helped to make us what we were. We visited an old, abandoned slave camp at Gore Island and we were so moved. The African people had given us gifts of courage and endurance that we couldn’t hope to repay”. In 1998, he joined a World Economic Forum summit in the nation of Namibia to help support investment opportunities in Africa.
