Twelve Year Old Peyton Fentress Was Inspired By Michael Jackson For His Nike “Freestyle” Shoe Design Entry
March 20, 2019
Each year, Nike uses its “Freestyle” program to offer shoes designed by patients at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, for sale to raise money for the hospital. One of this year’s participants, 12-year-old Peyton Fentress used Michael Jackson as one of his inspirations. “When I was little, I may or may not have put on costumes on to dance to his music,” said the young designer. To debut his collection, he also wore a glitter brimmed hat recalling Michael’s style. In true Michael fashion, Nike has helped raise $24 million for the hospital through the Freestyle program.
