On this date in 1990, Billboard revealed the results of their first ever “Decade-End Reader Poll” covering the 1980s. Michael won the most categories of any artist, a total of four, driven by the success of Thriller which was voted both the best pop and Black album of the decade, with “Billie Jean” scoring best single.
