The best-selling global album of all time, Thriller, was released on this date in 1982 and it’s been ruling ever since. Russ Parsons wrote for Tribune a year later, “If 1983 is remembered by pop music fans for nothing else, it will be remembered as the year of Michael Jackson.” He also wrote the album is “supreme pop, a classic example of matter over mind.”
