In 1987, an interviewer from Ebony / Jet Magazine told Michael that “Man In The Mirror” was his favorite song from the Bad album and Michael remarked: “It is my philosophy too. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change. People don’t take a look at themselves honestly. It’s always the other guy’s fault or something. But you should change yourself.”
