“Off The Wall,” the title track from Michael’s first solo album, made its U.S. chart debut in February 1980. It was the third single from the album, and peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song became Michael’s third Top 10 single from Off The Wall, which would later set a record as the first album by a solo artist to have four Top 10 singles. (Those singles were the #1 hits “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and “Rock With You,” followed by “Off The Wall” and “She’s Out Of My Life,” which both peaked at #10 on the pop charts.) “Off The Wall” also reached #5 on the R&B singles chart, where it held that position for three weeks.
