Michael says he found a great affection for California upon moving to the state: “To come from our part of Indiana, which is so urban and often bleak … was like having the whole world transformed into a beautiful dream. I was uncontrollable back then. I was all over the place – Disneyland, Sunset Strip, the beach There were palm trees and beautiful sunsets, and the weather was so warm. Every day was special.”
